A Thula Bona Security Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) Officer followed his instincts and was able to apprehend a suspect.
In the early hours of Thursday morning, four suspects gained access to the property of a trucking company in Clairwood and tied up the guards and other employees on duty.
They removed the victims’ cell phones and then proceeded to remove the tyres and rims off the trucks, also causing damage to the vehicles in the process. The robbers escaped with eight truck tyres and rims in a white bakkie.

A Thula Bona Security CCPU Officer was patrolling the area and noticed the white Mitsubishi bakkie loaded with truck tyres. He proceeded to follow the vehicle and attempted to flag it down. The driver of the bakkie tried to escape from the officer and drove into a nearby industrial area. The driver then abandoned the vehicle and attempted to run from the scene.

The officer gave chase, caught and apprehended the driver. He then called his team member for backup and the Brighton Beach SAPS was contacted.
The suspect was taken into custody.
This gang has long been sought out and the team has kept a keen look-out. This matter is under investigation.
