THULA BONA SECURITY WEEKEND ARRESTS: MULTIPLE SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN DURBAN

Durban Arrest

It was a busy weekend for the team at Thula Bona Security as multiple suspects were arrested for crimes committed in the Greater Durban area, on Friday and Saturday.

In the first incident which occurred just after 9pm on Friday night, 2 cable theft suspects were apprehended by Blue Security members.

“Thula Bona’s control centre had been notified of the theft in progress by a Glenwood resident. A commnity policing officer and the area manager were dispatched immediately and then raced to the scene, where the men were seen allegedly stealing electricity cables,” said Thula Bona Security community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios.

On arrival, the resident pointed the officers in the direction that the suspects had run off in. The two men were then caught and apprehended.

The damage they caused left nearby residents without power. However, Thula Bona Security’s Community Command Centre reported the power outage to the municipality to get the power back on. The suspects were handed over to SAPS thereafter.

In a separate incident in Windemere, a theft suspect was arrested for breaking into a commercial property.

“A Thula Bona Security community policing officer responded to an alarm activation on Florida Road and apprehended a suspect who was found in possession of a stolen cash register and other miscellaneous items. It was apparent that the man entered the property by forcing open a side window”, said Mathios.

The missing items were recovered and the suspect was then handed over to SAPS for further processing.

In another incident, a fourth theft suspect was arrested early on Saturday morning, in Glenwood.

“The dedicated community policing officer who patrols the Glenmore Thula Bona Zone followed a suspicious man to an open garage and asked him a few questions regarding his whereabouts and the items in question. On ascertaining the man’s involvement in the alleged theft, he was apprehended”, Mathios reported.

The suspect was found in possession of a range of vehicle keys, student cards, identity documents as well as bank cards and is wanted in connection with various other incidents around the area.

Umbilo SAPS attended the scene and detained the suspect who was to be processed.
